Radically high-spirited.

Feels good long after the bottle is empty

From the very beginning, Sugar Thief has sought to use our business as a force for good. We have selected a few charities--each with it's own birdhouse in the taproom. Spread the love and help make Bonaire an even better place!

Here's this month's Charities (scroll for more info):

Sea Turtle Conservation Bonaire

Animal Shelter Bonaire

Reef Renewal Bonaire

Sea Turtle Conservation Bonaire (STCB)

Sea Turtle Conservation Bonaire (STCB) has been protecting Bonaire's sea turtles since 1991. Worldwide, six of the seven sea turtle species are classified as threatened or endangered due to human actions and lifestyles. Bonaire is the home to three of the world's six endangered or critically endangered species of marine turtles: the hawksbill, green and loggerhead turtle.

STCB focuses on research and education to build knowledge and ensure a secure future for Bonaire’s sea turtles. Some of the activities conducted by the organization include snorkel surveys along the west coast of Bonaire, around Klein Bonaire and in green turtle ‘hotspot’ Lac Bay to collect data on the number of foraging turtles in Bonaire’s waters and the health of our sea turtle population; nest patrols on the nesting beaches of Bonaire and Klein Bonaire to record nests laid by green, hawksbill and loggerhead turtles and to monitor their safety during the incubation time of approximately two months; clean-ups on land and in water; and presentations as well as educational workshops for locals, schoolchildren and people visiting the island to share knowledge and raise awareness.

STCB is located at Kaya Korona #53 and you can visit their office to learn more about Bonaire’s sea turtles and STCB’s activities.

Animal Shelter Bonaire

Since 1983, Animal Shelter Bonaire has been caring and finding homes for the unwanted or abandoned cats and dogs on Bonaire. We house an average of 100 these sweet animals. Our mission also includes providing a free sterilization program for companion animals to help reduce the overpopulation. Since 2004, the Shelter has paid for over 6,800 sterilizations. By patronizing SugarThief, through their generous donation program you can also choose to help us continue with our work of caring for Bonaire’s unwanted dogs and cats.

Reef Renewal Bonaire

Since 2012, Reef Renewal Foundation Bonaire has been dedicated to restoring Bonaire’s coral reefs through innovative coral nurseries and restoration techniques. Guided by these key priorities, we continue to restore Staghorn and Elkhorn corals, educate people from around the world about how they can help, and use the latest science and research to guide and shape our techniques. The Mission of Reef Renewal Foundation Bonaire is to protect and restore coral reefs in Bonaire by developing new and innovative ways to restore reefs that are supported by research collaborations and shared worldwide. By partnering with Sugar Thief, we can demonstrate that through community efforts there is still hope for coral reefs.
